“惡魔” can be interpreted as DEVIL while “城” means TOWN. The name “Devil Town” (on the yellow sticker) comes from the translation from Castlevania to Chinese: “惡魔城”. Classic “warning” text on how to use this cartridge. Thank God there’s a yellow sticker with the name of the game. These carts were sold with a Box with the same art as the label. Sadly, they only imported certain bootlegs and changed the label. With the explosion of the NES in North America and the appearence of Chinese and Taiwanese famicom clones Edu Games started their own production of carts and clones of this 8 bit console. January 1st and I’m making my first entry through my bootleg collection, this time I am bringing “Devil Town” better known as Castlevania by the south-american company “Edu Games”.Įdu Games was an Argentinean company that in the late 80’s was quite busy manufacturing their own Atari 2600 games and Atari 2600 clone consoles. It’s amazing that Midway never sued Cony Soft. Why awful? Because in 99% of the carts I’ve seen the Mortal Kombat logo is slightly crooked and washed up. I’ve seen this same cartridge in different colours but with the same awful label.

Of course, there’s no fatalities or anything like that. The game is pretty much based on Cony Soft “Street Fighter” pirate ports, so all the movements are done in the same fashion. When you finish you only get a Copyright screen with some credits. You need to beat them all in order to finish the game. This version has 6 playable characters with a pallette swap mirror character making a total of 12 characters. Later, they added more characters and more movements. Mortal Kombat II is the first version of the famicom bootleg.

“All rights reserved” yeah right XD Something really wrong happened with Sonya. Also music test because you need Yoko’s MK music while vacuuming the carpet. With the Mortal Kombat fever Cony Soft was smart enough to cash in some bucks making a horrible port of Mortal Kombat for the Famicom using the alias “YOKO Soft”.ĭevelopers included a Difficulty level setting because AI is kind of hard. Back in the early 90s Mortal Kombat was a total hit.
